Sun Salutation Workshop: Finding the spiritual through the physical

with Jessica Dewar

Surya Namaskara, also known as the Sun Salutation consists of a series of twelve postures and is one of the most holistic exercise sequences due to its powerful connection with body, breath and mind.

  • The stretching and compression of the abdominal organs helps heal the digestive system.
  • It improves posture by broadening the chest, toning the arms and strengthening the abdominal muscles.
  • It develops muscular strength and spinal flexibility and is one of the best methods for weight loss.
  • The Pranayama components (breath control) strengthen the lungs, oxygenates the blood, and detoxify the body by ridding it of carbon dioxide and other toxic gases.
  • For women: menstrual irregularity is improved, assists in easy childbirth and balances hormone levels by normalizing activity of the endocrine system; especially the thyroid gland.
  • It improves sleep and reduces anxiety and nervous tension.

Whether you are a beginner or a long-time practicing yogi, join us in exploring the power of this ancient sequence.
