Beginners Yoga: Level 2 Program

Continuing on from the Beginners Yoga: 4-Week Intro Program, these next 4 weeks will work on the finer points of foundational postures, alignment and will begin to introduce some playful balancing poses.

You will learn techniques to develop upper body strength in preparation for stronger inversions and arm balances; practice healthy back bending poses to strengthen your back and explore poses that will help you to release tight hips. We will also practice meditation and learn basic breath control techniques (pranayama).

Level 2 students will complete their training feeling a deeper connection to the practice and an enhanced understanding of their physical and emotional selves.

*Students applying for the Beginners Yoga: Level 2 Program must have completed the Beginners Yoga: 4 Week Intro Program.

Jessica Dewar Yoga’s Beginners Yoga: 4-Week Intro Program is a dynamic, detailed and exciting course for anyone interested in beginning their journey with yoga. It is also the perfect opportunity for current yoga students to deepen and expand their practice. Drawing upon the passion, skills and expertise of our senior teachers, you will be taught to practice yoga with clarity, energy and confidence.

Students can expect individual attention, personal development, mentoring and assistance from experienced and conscientious teachers; a strong foundation in yoga asana (postures) and an introduction to yoga philosophy.

Each course runs for 4 weeks over which the basic yoga postures will be introduced and consolidated. On completion of the course students will feel confident to continue with weekly group classes. For more information about what to expect, see Beginners Yoga.

Kid's Yoga - Term 4 (age 5-10)

Kids yoga lessons are very active and will challenge your little ones balance, strength, flexibility, flow, creativity, attention, concentration, memory, mind, and a lot more! All the learning is done through stories to keep children intrigued and excited.

Our Kids Yoga Classes are a beautiful way to introduce the philosophy of yoga to your children. Specifically, our classes will teach  your child:

  • About the asanas (postures)

  • How to understand, deepen and control their emotions

  • How to develop healthy relationships, with themselves and others

An early introduction to yoga, one that sparks imagination, focus and intrigue, is one of the greatest gifts we can offer to our children and our community.

Yoga for Teens - Term 4 (age 11-15)

Yoga helps teenagers deal with changing emotions, as well as physically nurturing the body's flexibility. It provides a safe, secure, non-competitive environment, a space of deep acceptance where diversity is valued and encouraged. It helps to build self-confidence and offers a framework for teens to see positive shifts, without the pressure of needing to change. It is a joyful space to 'be' and a chance for much needed relaxation. The yoga class is a wonderful platform for teens to work on self-acceptance, self-love and to generally make positive changes in their lives.

Seniors Yoga classes have been carefully designed around the special needs of the body as it ages and begins to lose its strength, mobility and balance.

The focus is on creating a practice that is steady, comfortable and pleasant, in which seniors can explore their new boundaries, as they build strength, mobility and balance and become more connected with their bodies through the breath... the slow deep diaphragmatic breath.

Restorative Yoga Workshop

Nurture your body, mind, and soul with an afternoon of profound relaxation and stillness through restorative yoga

During this 2 hour session, you will be guided using bolsters, blocks, and blankets to assist in bringing your body into a state of complete relaxation. You will learn to comfortably maintain variations in asana over longer periods of time (between 5 - 15 minutes). Developed in combination with deep restorative breathing, this practice will help you to let go physically, emotionally, and mentally to replenish your energy levels.

The profound state of relaxation we enter during a restorative yoga session calms the nervous system, balances our heart rate, and regulates the functioning of our internal organs. It helps to reduce symptoms of depression, chronic fatigue and anxiety, and can improve sleep patterns.

When: Saturday, Nov 17th, 2.00pm - 4.00pm
