Beginners Yoga: 4-Week Intro Program

 

Jessica Dewar Yoga’s Beginners Yoga: 4-Week Intro Program is a dynamic, detailed and exciting course for anyone interested in beginning their journey with yoga. It is also the perfect opportunity for current yoga students to deepen and expand their practice. Drawing upon the passion, skills and expertise of our senior teachers, you will be taught to practice yoga with clarity, energy and confidence.

Students can expect individual attention, personal development, mentoring and assistance from experienced and conscientious teachers; a strong foundation in yoga asana (postures) and an introduction to yoga philosophy.

Each course runs for 4 weeks over which the basic yoga postures will be introduced and consolidated. On completion of the course students will feel confident to continue with weekly group classes. For more information about what to expect, see Beginners Yoga.

Gong Sound Bath Meditation

with Cathy Loughrey & Ghinni

The Sound Bath will be a time of deep relaxation allowing the waves of sound to carry you away on a journey. Come prepared to lie down and fully relax into the vibration for the duration of the session. The gentle sound of wind chimes will start your journey while the Gongs slowly come in creating a wave of sound. Like the ocean the sound flows out in waves, returns, builds, sound that creates light and life carrying you deeper and deeper on your journey.

The sound of the Gong works as the Guru, transforming darkness to light, sweeping away the stresses and leaving you deeply relaxed. Everyone has a different experience in a sound bath and every sound bath is different. It is best to come with no expectations and be prepared to lie comfortably and relax into the sound current.

Cathy and Ghinni are experienced Gong Players and hold the space of the Sound Baths with deep love and gratitude.

The vast majority of our body complaints stem from our day to day behaviours; how we sit, how we stand, our ergonomics. Straight Forward aims to provide postural education and improve your understanding of your body. With better education, knowledge and awareness, preventable pain and discomfort will be reduced, allowing you to participate in any activity without concern of injury.

Intermediate Yoga: 4-Week Program

 

Continuing on from the Beginners Yoga Intro Program these next 4 weeks will include a more advanced asana practice, introducing you to stronger inversions, arm balances, back bending and deep hip-opening work. We will also practice meditation and more advanced breath control techniques (pranayama).

It is recommended students applying for the Intermediate Yoga Course have completed the Beginners Yoga: 4 Week Intro Program however this is not a necessity.

Jessica Dewar Yoga’s Intro to Flow is a program built to empower everyone interested in creating a safe and effective practice. It’s the perfect opportunity for current regular students to expand their practice, as well as beginners to feel confident walking into flow classes.

Students can expect individual attention, personal development, mentoring and assistance from the team. The course will cover every component of a flow class from ujjayi breathing, building core strength, understanding your options for modifications and how to use props. After 4 weeks, you will feel empowered and confident to continue your practice!
