When Tegan first tried yoga over ten years ago, she connected with it from the beginning – the breath-work, the poses, the beautiful Sanskrit names, and the sense of peace and calm she always walked away with after class. Over time Tegan’s dedication to her self-practice grew and naturally the desire to share yoga with others evolved.
Teaching primarily Vinyasa Flow or Yin Yoga, Tegan likes to weave the influence of other styles of yoga, such as Ashtanga, Hatha, Kundalini and Restorative, into her classes. As a down-to-earth and warm-hearted person, Tegan teaches with gentleness and inclusivity, to ensure all students feel safe and welcome. In Tegan’s classes you can also expect a balanced variation of poses, attention to safety and alignment, and an exploration of mindfulness.
Outside of her teaching, Tegan loves writing, plant-based cooking, spending time with loved-ones, and getting out in nature. Tegan grew up on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada, and she feels the beautiful forests and seashores of her hometown are what first gave her a deep sense of peace and connection. She believes yoga is a tool that helps cultivate that sense (and can be practiced anywhere, even when escape to the wilderness isn't possible!), and that the mindfulness we bring to our mats will inevitably extend into our day.
