Alot has happened in the past few days - for one I have my new yoga mat! It’s arrived from New Zealand, Eco Yoga Store. Helen and Ingrid from EYS were incredibly helpful women. They knew i had a tight deadline from date of order to when I would fly out and made sure I had my new Thyme coloured mat. I ended up purchasing a Manduka mat on my own. For whatever reason Manduka in the USA never got back to me re my sponsorship request. It’s unfortunate however i appreciate they would have many reasons why not to get back to me. Who am i to them for starters…
Last night mum and my sisters organised a small going away dinner. As part of my introduction to India they thought it would be a great idea to have Indian for dinner - why not! I’m only going to be eating Indian for the next 3 months - what’s another meal! lol.
I had a lovely evening with everyone. At one stage we all had a competition to see who could hold a plank the longest - I wasn’t the winner. Marcus, Matt, Chelsea and Billy are all able to move quite easily into Kakasana which is amazing. I’m still struggling to find my balance with this posture and I’m hoping Barath, my master, will offer guidance re how to move into and sustain this posture.
I received some lovely and thoughtful going away gifts from everyone - an awesome laundry bag with a map of the world on it (absolute necessity when on the road), a small owl broach to live wise and live well (thank you Julienne - one certainly needs these reminders often), and a lovely watermelon coloured purse. Mum, Alex and Joanne also bought me a lovely box of vegan chocolates to carry with me. God knows I will be making the most of these when i am struggling to find food i can eat!
I chatted with Dad this morning about some Rotary Groups in India he could hook me up with. This could be very cool when I’m lost in Varanasi and need someone to trust there! I will certainly be taking dad up on this offer.
It’s definately getting very emotional in my household - with leaving Owen and the pooch behind - but we know this will only make our little family stronger. I don’t know any other couple who has the love, support and trust for one another and Owen and I do - and i will be forever grateful for that. He’s a catch and i can’t wait to start our new lives together when I get back.
Well - it’s back to the final prep work before i head off on Wednesday. Adaptors, nurofen, photocopies of my visa and passport - oh, and don’t forget the toilet paper! (warning from the shala). What a different world this will be indeed.
