I just LOVE spring! The energy at this time of year is simply magic. A time when the world is leaving hibernation and beginning to brave the outdoors. The icy mornings are slowly warming, the trees are beginning to show signs of colour again, and the birds are singing. Life really is happening. But sometimes it can take us humans a little longer to adjust to the changes. The body has become a little lethargic and stiff (sometimes heavier) after so many months of little movement, making it that bit more challenging to get up, out and about. Sound familiar?
With all of that in mind, here are a couple of ideas to help give the body the boost it needs to get up and about again:
Rest: It is SO important to make sure you’re getting a good nights rest. 7-8 hours of sleep per night is vital to give your body a chance to reboot itself, helping you to wake up bright eyed and ready to face the day. Poor sleep will always result in the opposite - drained, overtired and always feeling behind the eight ball. Be firm with yourself and really try to respect your body’s primary needs, ensuring a good sleeping pattern is part of your normal routine. You will notice a significant change in energy within days when you adopt this way of living.
Smile: It might sound silly, but the more we smile the more energy we create. Even if you don’t feel like smiling, just try it out. Look in a mirror and see how it makes you feel. Trust me - you will notice a difference, and so will everyone else around you!
Move: You don’t need to run a marathon, climb a mountain or join a Bikram yoga class. Just some gentle stretching in your backyard or lounge will make a world of difference to how you’re feeling. Just 5 - 30 minutes of rolling around, extending the arms, stretching the legs and gentle rocking through the spine will make you feel a million dollars! Not only will you begin releasing any pent up tension, but stress levels will also begin to come under better control. Movement really is the best medicine for everything.
Remember, energy is a currency and the more we have of it, the wealthier we are. Take care of your beautiful body and I assure every day will be brighter than the one before.
